We are subject, as a general rule, to a very high level of stress. The social structure and the pace of life we lead forces us to constantly strive, compete, fight and struggle to maintain a very high level of activity, energy and productivity almost continuously.
All of this can be exhausting and distressing, making problems such as anxiety one of the most prevalent worldwide. We therefore need a space and different ways to disconnect and relax. This need has generated the birth and multiplication of workshops and activities aimed at this. And the potential of new technologies has even been taken advantage of for this purpose, generating, among other alternatives, various applications or smartphone apps to relax anywhere.
Applications to relax anywhere (and eliminate stress)
Below we show you a dozen applications or apps to relax in different ways, from meditation to breathing techniques or the use of sounds to either reduce the level of tension or even help you sleep.
There are also others that offer guided meditations and other strategies that have been shown to be effective in reducing stress and anxiety levels.
1. Wake Up
In the Wake Up online platform We will be able to discover what personal strategies we should follow if we want to be able to relax in a much more effective way, a task that in practice may seem very simple to carry out but which in reality is sometimes more complicated than it seems.
The videos published on this platform touch on some highly relevant topics such as self-knowledge, mindfulness, relaxation or the practice of yoga.
2. White Noise Lite
A simple application that bases its operation on the choice of different relaxing sounds, such as rain, wind, Tibetan bowls or frogs, which allow us to disconnect as they occur continuously at the same time as we imagine in a relaxing situation. It helps you sleep and has alarms set so you can wake up on time but calmly. It’s also free, on Google Play.
3. Stop, Breathe and Think: Meditation & Mindfulness
This application available on Android is also very useful for practicing different types of meditation. It helps you relax, stay motivated and rest better. It also allows you to see your own progress and even has videos to help children perform yoga. It is free to download and also offers more than 40 free activities, but it has more than 80 in the premium version, which requires a paid subscription.
4. Gravilux
Available on iOS, this application allows you to draw with your finger, seeing how a large number of particles move depending on where we pass our finger.
5. Tayasui Color
Also on iOS, this paid application (which a while ago could be purchased for free from the Apple Store) mainly offers us color different images of different complexity in order to relax.
6. Breathe2Relax
Although its aesthetics are not the best, this free application is very useful in learning to perform different breathing techniques that allow us to reduce nerves, tension or anxiety. Available on both Android and iOS.
7. Aura: mindfulness & happiness
Available on iOS and Android and free to download, Aura is an application that allows us to develop personalized relaxation sessions, based on a series of basic data such as age, level of agitation or stress, optimism and the user’s interests. Provides daily meditation and mindfulness sessions of around three minutes long (also being useful to learn how to do it).
8. Prune
Since we are actually facing a game, this greatly helps to relax with its minimalist proposal in which we must grow a tree. Also plays background music intended to facilitate meditation and relaxation. Of course, it is paid.
9. Life Charge
Free iOS application that bases its operation on making lists of both positive and negative things that happen to us daily, helping us put them in perspective and reduce tension generated on a daily basis.
10. Smiling Mind
Completely free application on Android, although completely in English. This application is based on helping us carry out meditation sessions and offers different programs depending on the age group, the place where it will take place (at work for example) or even for athletes. Apparently also offers the option to monitor mood.
11. Relax Melodies: Sleep and Yoga
Application that has a wide variety of white sounds to help us relax and that can even be combined to have personalized tracks. It also has a stopwatch and allows you to perform multiple meditations (although these are in English and usually require a fee). Available on Android.
12. Calm
With a Spanish version and available on Android and in a browser, this application offers us different strategies to relax, from guided meditations to the practice of breathing techniques, music and relaxing settings. It is paid, but offers a free trial.
