It Absorbs My Energy

When with a simple conversation the world falls on you

It absorbs my energy

Have you met someone who kills your energy? It seems silly but it is not. There are moments in our life, in our path, where we can meet more than one person of this type. A person with whom we have a conversation and no matter how simple it may seem at first ends up submerging us in sadness. We come to see things with much less enthusiasm and in a negative way. Even those around us warn us that that person “Has the black one!” or “everything happens to him.” The question is: Why don’t you walk away?

Do you really need to be listening to negative aspects in your life? Let’s face it, it’s stealing your energy. Taking you to a state you were not in. You were happy, or at least you were positive. And now, you find yourself apathetic, without desire for anything, tired… They are absorbing your energy.

I am aware that I always need her approval in things, I imagine that because I have the feeling that she always evaluates me negatively saying that it could be better, that that is not the case, that I do not get involved in things… She is very stubborn and at the same time In the end I always end up not telling him everything I do because I know that either he won’t like it or he will make some bad taste comment that will make me feel bad again.

It may be a figure of speech, but the truth is that a group of researchers at the University of Bielefeld has discovered that plants can absorb energy from other plants to stay active. Although research continues, it is expected that with future advances we will be able to know if this factor also occurs in people.

psychic vampires

We all have difficult times, where the people around us help us cope and overcome it. When we talk about psychic vampires, we are not referring to a bad time, but to a way of being characteristic of a toxic person who impacts our lives like a tsunami and leaves us without strength. This type of person can be defined in these types:

  • Narcissists: These types of people need the attention of the people around them at all times. They are egocentric and do not have to have very high self-esteem. On the contrary, they usually have low self-esteem, so they brag about things to comfort themselves and feel better at all times.
  • Martyrs: The dramatic one, the one where you don’t know how but you always end up feeling insecure or sad because of your flaws. When you are with them you feel very small.
  • Gossips: Everywhere we find the person who meddles in everything, the one who wants to know everything about everyone and then spread it in a negative way. In this way, we feel ashamed and humiliated.
  • Conflictive: Those who create conflict or quarrels wherever they go with verbal aggression. They make us feel bad and lower our self-esteem.
  • Passive-aggressive: Maybe they are the ones we have to control the most, because they talk to us with a smile from ear to ear but what they are telling us is to harm us. They disguise their feelings to make us look like the bad guys in the movie when they are the ones who have created the conflict.

Put the brakes on it

People of this style end up emotionally exhausting us, generating feelings such as stress, anxiety and even fear because we have been too empathetic with them in some situations. What to do about this?

  • Identify negative energy: It’s yours? Is she the other person’s? She understands how you are feeling in this situation and what it brings to you personally.
  • Distance yourself: Once you have analyzed where that negativity comes from, try to get away so that it does not affect you.
  • Breathe: When you find yourself in a similar situation with these types of people, inhale and exhale the negativity they are giving you until you calm down.
  • Learn to recognize them: It is not about stopping being empathetic, but it is about being able to identify those people who are only going to bring negative aspects to your life.
