Is There Only One Way Of Seeing, Feeling And Living?

Is there only one way to see the world? The order of priorities is unique for each individual. There is no better way to conduct yourself at work, there is your own way.

We have too many prejudices about what it means to take advantage of life

Pablo Paz is a 30-year-old young man, whose passion is music. Since he was little, he has had a musical talent that he has combined with the tireless effort of someone who aims to improve himself. He did not abandon his studies and in addition to graduating from university as a primary school teacher, he completed the last degree of conservatory.

He specialized in classical and contemporary music, studying in European countries with unquestionable musical roots. He currently plays in prestigious symphonies. This job allows you develop your artistic ability and feel fulfilled; He has a support group that understands the limited free time, and they respect him because they have witnessed the sacrifice it took to become an excellent professional. Despite the effort, dedication and talent, he still deals with reproaches from third parties: “you don’t make a living from music”, “it’s a profession for bohemians without aspirations”, “you should take the exam to have a serious job…”, etc.

Pablo Paz collaborates by carrying out musical workshops with psychology centers, so we are deeply grateful to the colleague for allowing us to echo the following reflection: There is only one way to see, feel and live ? Do we all have to unquestionably follow a certain path? If I had wanted to be a primary school music teacher (a beautiful job that I respect very much), I would have fought and used my time and energy on it. If I had wanted to be this or that thing that many people advise me to do, I would have tried… but that is not the case. For many years, I have used my time and energy on what I am passionate about and what makes me wake up motivated and inspired every morning.

I have been working (as a musician) and studying (music) all my life. Now I’m 30, and yes… I have fears. Fear of the future, fear of an unstable life, fear of failure… but that doesn’t stop me. I analyze the situation and continue, always looking for a balance Artists in general, and musicians in particular, in many cases sacrifice stability and comfort for independence and personal satisfaction. There is only one life and the worst thing that can happen is to be 50 years old and full of frustrations resulting from past fears and pressures.

Different ways of seeing work

We all like to go to a theater, enjoy a painting, listen to a certain group… in short, enjoy art (yes, that typically human communicative activity that differentiates us from any other animal). We can do all this because there are artists who have had courage, they have not let themselves be dragged because of fears and pressures and they have opted to do what they love, which is to create… I have those people as a model.” Pablo P. opted for his well-being, going through a hard path where effort is (and has been) a constant.

Why should you evaluate all your possibilities?

Unfortunately, the reproaches mentioned above come from social stereotypes that can be limiting. Loved ones advise with love and concern, but it is up to the “owner of their existence” to analyze those words and assess what emotions that life expectancy generates.

Not everyone will be happy dedicating themselves to a well-paid job, nor does every person need to do a job that they are passionate about… for some people, work is a livelihood and, for others, a passion. There are more or less: ambitious Vs conformist, creative Vs realistic, focused on work Vs focused on leisure… All visions are equally valid , as long as they are the result of personal responsibility and generate well-being. The order of priorities is unique for each individual. There is no better way to conduct yourself at work, there is your own way. If you feel uncomfortable, you change “something” and that something may not fit the mold of third parties.
